Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a conventional medical treatment utilizing drugs (chemicals) to kill micro-organism or cancer cells. A patient can be given one drug or a combination of drugs either by using intravenous (IV) infusion, a shot, or sometimes by mouth. Chemotherapy kills cells that divide quickly, such as cancer cells, but also harms other quick-dividing cells that are normal, such as hair follicles, which is why hair loss is one of the main side-effects. This therapy characteristically has many side-effects, and often patients utilize complementary, alternative and integrative medicine (CAIM) options to help minimize and ease side-effects.
