A lactation consultant is someone who is qualified to instruct and help new mothers with breast feeding. Most people who are qualified for this are nurses, certified nurse midwives, and doulas. Most women who are aniticipating breast feeding should consult a lactation consultant because they have a vast amount of knowledge and can offer support for this very exciting and often exhausting and confusing time of life.
