Personal Trainer, Certified
A certified personal trainer is someone who has trained for a required number of hours in specific classes to be able to instruct a client in ways to meet personal fitness and wellness goals. A certified personal trainer can be certified to teach groups of people and/or individuals. There are a number of organizations that offer certifications and their requirements can vary greatly, however, usually the bare minimum is a High School diploma and certifications in CPR and AED. The most common places to find a personal trainer are in health clubs, fitness centers, and personal training studios. Some also offer home visits. Utilizing a personal trainer can help a person learn and utilize proper exercise techniques while monitoring frequency of workouts and progress towards fitness goals. A certified personal trainer is different from an Athletic Trainer in that an athletic trainer is required to have a bachelor's degree and participate in continuing education after graduation and also be certified by one national certifying agency.
