Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a mind-body practice that originated in China as a martial art.
A person doing Tai Chi moves his body slowly and gently, while breathing deeply and meditating. It is sometimes called 'moving meditation'. Tai Chi helps the flow throughout the body of vital energy called Qi (pronounced 'chee'). These balanced gentle movements are designed to dissolve physical and karmic layers of tension in both the physical body and the energy body, and to open up the spiritual space inside.
People practice Tai Chi for various health purposes. As an exercise, it is low-impact, aerobic, and can improve muscle strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance. It also reduces the risk of falls, especially in elderly people. Other health benefits can include easing of pain and stiffness, improved sleep, stress reduction, and overall wellness.
