11/18: Baby Steps - Improving Your Health Doesn't Happen Over Night

Keywords: Health, Excersise, Sugar, Water

Did you ever wake up and wonder, "How did I get here?" As in, how did you get to the place you are in life at that very moment with all your botta_caption3.jpg"baggage"?  Well, I can guarantee, wherever you may be, you didn’t get there overnight!

Most of us want to make more money so we can buy more things or get the bills paid or start that exercise program, or get healthier in general. Those are all good things and good aspirations, but unfortunately we get so overwhelmed by the thought of everything it’s gonna take to attain our aspiration that we just fall back into our beds and stay right where we are.  NOT GOOD!!!

I have 2 simple words for you:  BEGIN... CONTINUE...

That’s how you got to where you are, and that’s how you will get to where you desire to be.

BEGIN... CONTINUE...

It’s simple and beautiful and really inspiring; not to mention easy to remember.

BEGIN. Just take one step, even one baby step in the direction of your desires. For example, even if you can’t possibly figure out how to MAKE one more dollar today, you can SAVE one more dollar by not spending it and put it in a safe place. One baby step.

Can’t afford or don’t have the time to start an exercise program?

BEGIN. Incorporate more physical activity into what you are doing already. For example, you should be brushing your teeth for at least 2 minutes, twice per day. Instead of standing there looking at your foaming face in the mirror, do lunges up and down the hall while brushing. This is a minimum of 4 extra minutes per day of an exercise that gives you a big caloric burn for the time spent. (Think BIG glute muscles and BIG leg muscles all working hard!) One baby step.

Want to eat healthier?

BEGIN. Pick just ONE thing to add or ONE thing to remove from your cupboard. Want to decrease your sugar intake? (By the way, 10g sugar per serving is the MAX you should be consuming.) Take a baby step. Replace your pop/soda with juice. Take another baby step, replace 1/4 of the juice in your glass with water. You won't notice the taste change and it'll be healthier for you. If you took a HUGE step first and replaced 1/2 the juice with water, you would never drink it and give up but, add a little bitty bit more of water every day and before you know it you will be down to 10g of sugar per serving. Baby steps.

You CAN incorporate small changes into your current life to move you into the life you desire. Just remember to CONTINUE taking baby steps. You'll be amazed at how creative you can be and one morning you'll wake up saying, "Hey, how did I get HERE, and where did all my baggage go??"

BEGIN... CONTINUE

Be well,
